JJ’s Spring Transitional List

I do not cope well in winter. In fact I just tend to bunker down, wear the same uniform daily, get into bed ridiculously early and work my way through my reading list. So it fills me with great joy to finally feel the sun’s warmth return and to get excited for the months and months of summer ahead of us!

I’ve done some spring zooshing on the house and the first thing I tackled was the
bedraggled jasmine barely clinging onto the wall in our front yard. I’ve replaced them with beautiful apricot bougainvillea in these stunning terracotta pots who will enjoy that full sun position more. (Bunnings also has some great terracotta pots in store!)

Still in home spring mode I can’t wait for our new bone china wall art pieces to arrive next month! These gorgeous ceramic artworks are perfect for brightening an unexpected corner or adding to your gallery wall. I think there’s going to be a shell by my bed, a yellow sun above Teddies’ door and a palm tree somewhere in the house!

I’m also inspired now to start cooking lighter and getting my salad game on! Our pool season will start soon and I need to get some new favourites on rotation! Natalie Chassey on Instagram is giving me all the inspiration of a Mediterranean style summer plus I love how she does her content.

Getting inspired from what Natalie wore I tracked down this great shirt she wore in one of her posts. It’s by a local Sydney brand Venroy and it screams summer to me. I can see myself living in this over swimmers or with wide leg jeans.

And with my new shirt I’d love to have a new pair of kicks. The Salomon’s have been essential this winter, but this pair is the pop of red that would take my wardrobe to summer vibes. Bit pricey though so I think it’s an add to cart then wait for the sale kind of thing.

Jen and I bought the cutest banana bag charms in Manila and then when visiting Hencla my favourite store in Bondi I saw they were stocking these ones! Adorable, I love the toucan and lobster!

One of my fav things to do in summer is go for a swim and then amble over for lunch somewhere still with wet hair and salty skin. I heard this new place just opened up the road and its smoked trout toast and prawn focaccia had me at hello. Me and my Mum are trying it out next week.

As a lover of all things holistic I take the opportunity in winter to slow down, conserve energy and turn inwards (aka hibernate in bed) But now as spring approaches it’s time to emerge, stretch and begin again! I’m using Classpass this month (as they have a $5 deal on!) to book some dynamic flow yoga classes and Himalayan breathwork. Nothing like a backbend and chanting session to reawaken the spirit.

I also start my novel writing course this September which I am so excited about! I did the Unlocking Creativity course earlier this year and loved every minute of it. With spring meaning new growth and beginnings take this as your sign to book that class you’ve been thinking about. We all have much more to offer than we think.

My writing studio does online classes, hint hint.
