Warm up your body and soul with these hot drinks. Best make it a stylish slurp with one of our Happy Mugs!
Here’s five of the best hot drink ideas, starting from healthy to not-so-healthy.
Ginger Tea
Warming, spicy ginger tea is a non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated and virtually calorie-free drink that will heat your bones in a healthy way. Thinly slice a 3cm piece of fresh ginger and combine it with one cup of water in a saucepan. Bring to the boil then gently simmer for five minutes. Pour it into your Happy Mug via a sieve and add some honey to sweeten it up.
Golden Turmeric Milk
Grab a saucepan and over medium heat whisk together a cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, a half teaspoon of ground ginger or freshly grated ginger, a half teaspoon of cinnamon powder, a pinch of black pepper until it’s almost boiling. Simmer for five minutes then strain into your Happy Mug. Add a pinch of cinnamon.
Hot Chocolate
Sure, you can buy a ready-made option from the supermarket (we love Lindt hot chocolate flakes!) but if you want to go a little luxe, we adore this homemade hot chocolate recipe. It takes a bit more work, but your Happy Mug deserves it! And if you want to make it a little boozy, add a dash of aged rum or a shot of Baileys.
Hot Toddy
If you’re a fan of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” like we are, you just know that a Hot Toddy is always a good idea. The combination of whisky, honey, lemon, cinnamon and cloves packs a warm punch. We love this hot toddy recipe from the NY Times.
Mulled Wine
Making mulled wine is so easy. Just combine a bottle of red wine with one orange cut up into slices, six whole cloves, three cinnamon sticks, three star anise, a quarter cup of honey and a half cup of brandy. Let it simmer for 10 minutes. Pour into a Happy Mug and garnish with an orange slice or cinnamon stick if you’re feeling boujie.
